Growing up in Concord Tennessee, everyone around us seemed to be related. Now, after looking at Census Records, I am convinced that in fact I WAS related to everyone. Great Grandpa Newcomb lived at the corner of Grigsby Chapel Road and Campbell Station Road. Grandpa Needham lived just north of the interstate on the left of Campbell Station Road where Snyder Road meets. Papaw Derrick lived up on the hill on the left. His land met with Grandpa Needham's land. Across the road from Papaw Derrick was Uncle Lish's Grocery Store. Then there was Newcomb Lane just passed the Store, need I say more!!
I know, from Granny Newcomb Derrick's Bible, that her Mother was Laura Letsinger born March 8, 1883 and she died July 27,1914 when Granny was seven months old. Laura's Mother was Liza Herron (spelling may be in err) Her father was Bob Letsinger.
The 1870 United States Census has a Robert Letsinger (14) living in District 9 Knox Tennessee. Possible that his mother is Lucinda 1832. She is living with Robert , Garlinda, and Louis. Other Letsingers living close by.
The 1880 Census shows a Robert A Letsinger(24) married to A Eliza J Letsinger (25) Children: Amos W (4), Sarah E (2), Edy B (1). (This information agrees with Granny's Bible: Laura had brothers-W.A .and A.W . sisters-Ede and E-----?.Maybe Emma.) Next door to them lived Lucinda(48) and her children Garlinda A.(20) and Lewis W (18.) Nancy Raby (60) and Samuel (18) were neighbors
Who where the parents of Liza(Eliza) J Herron(or Herrin)?????
Who were the parents of Robert Letsinger??? I think Lucinda was his mother and she was widowed young.
Would love to hear from anyone able to help me dig deeper..
