Ongoing research for ELTON families. Originally from England (Clevedon, Bristol, Sommerset) Some branches went to Ireland, Wales and Australia.....and onto U.S. as well. Many may not yet know of the vast empire left by Abraham Elton, Edmund Elton and more. The 'Eltonware' Pottery and Glassworks houses which created down to this day, popular and precious vases, etc.... Let's make this a huge family affair. I have just stumbled upon your post and would like to add a reply. Although I am abroad at the moment and do not recall specifics I know that at least one couple in the family moved to Canada. Eltons of Wales John, Charles, Mary. I will have to try and remember to look this up when I return home and post further. Perhaps there is a connection.
I am going from memory but a few things I remember
I believe Joseph Elton was the one who moved to Canada. He was the son of Charles (from Sommerset) and Mary living in Monmothshire( area of Abertillery South Wales). Other siblings were Morgan, Eva, Hanna, John(that I recall). Most of that family came to the US. It is a bit fuzzy without review of my files. If needed I can cross check that and do some more digging once I return.
My Elton line was from Abraham who came to the U.S. via I believe Georgia . I would also have to look up my files which are buried deep right at the moment. Joseph was a brother...i believe there were several brothers who each went different venues. Have you checked with Ancestry.com under the Elton name? There is tons of info there from several relatives. I started my search back in 2000 and have met with fantastic results. Hope some of this makes sense to you.
